We asked several musicians what the band program has meant
to them at Calhoun... Here's what they had to say:
"Band is a place where I forget all of the rigors of the school day and just focus on making SUPERIOR music with all of my friends. It has been incredible watching the time pass before me as our band has transformed from a mediocre group of musicians into an ensemble that demands perfection. We are more than a band; We Are family, and We Are CCVB!!"
~ Mike Jean (Former Wind Ensemble President)
"To me the phrase 'Wind Ensemble' doesn't do our band justice. Personally, I feel that a more appropriate name would be 'Brotherhood of Underdogs'. Together, we are unstoppable. Without Wind Ensemble, I can easily say that my most memorable high school memories would cease to exist."
~ Nick Moehringer (Former Wind Ensemble Vice President)
"Band means that there's a place where I can go where I'm comfortable doing something that I love with people around me who share the same passion that I do. It's a community, a family, and a place where I can belong."
~Meryl Dickstein (Former Wind Ensemble Treasurer)
"Unison is a highly important factor in music, but I think that it is completely applicable to being a part of Wind Ensemble. Band is a united community. It is a space where everyone can be their selves and express themselves through music. We are a support system and everyone has each other's back."
~Cameron Morales (Former Flute Section Leader)
"Band is an outlet for my stress. When I am in band, I feel as nothing else matters but the great music in front of me."
~ Logan Strobing (Trumpet)
